Project overview

At TBCo, we never lose sight of the fact that every single public involvement project we support has the power to change millions of lives for generations to come. That is especially true for projects like this one.

The Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department is creating a Master Plan to shape the community’s vision and create a bright future for the next decade and beyond. As the city has wildly grown and changed over the last decade, this updated plan is crucial to meet the needs of Phoenix and its 1.7 million residents.

The goal is to design memorable, accessible spaces that make life better throughout Phoenix. First, we look at what the community needs, offering fun third spaces for all ages. Plus, a solid master plan also raises property values, feeds local business, and keeps the environment healthy.

So what does the community need? It’s our job to find out. To do that, we needed to create a centralized brand and communication strategy.

What we did

  • A logo and comprehensive visual identity
  • The Parks Master Plan website
  • A tagline and content strategy
  • A community survey and event outreach

Stuffy, technical language often fails to capture the public’s interest or inspire participation. Our team worked with project stakeholders to identify language that draws residents in and makes them feel that they truly belong. We offered taglines options to be featured with our logo concepts:

  • Planning to Play
  • Thinking Outside the Park
  • Play Your Way
  • Creating Spaces for Everyone

The main goal of this website was an ultra user-friendly experience. This was a project for everyone: the dog walkers, the Frisbee golfers, the pad splashers, the sunset watchers, the yoga posers, and the kite flyers. We focused on clear, easy-to-understand information and simple navigation, ensuring visitors can quickly find what they need. By prioritizing ease of use, we aimed to encourage participation and engagement from everyone, no matter their level of tech savvy.

Start thinking outside the park.
